01About this test
Rajasthan High Court LDC / JJA / JA computer speed test. Hindi and English are both compulsory, and the marks count towards your merit.
02Rules
- 1Duration: 5 minutes per language. Hindi is typed first, then English.
- 2Minimum speed: 8,000 key depressions an hour - about 26.7 words a minute, or 667 keys in 5 minutes.
- 3Each language is worth 25 marks; the speed test is 50 of the 100 computer-test marks.
- 4Backspace and the arrow keys are disabled. Keep going after a mistake.
- 5Full mistakes count 1; half mistakes (spacing, capitalisation, punctuation, transposition, paragraph) count 0.5.
- 6Hindi is typed in Kruti Dev 010 on the Remington keyboard; Mangal is not accepted.
03How you are scored
Gross words = key depressions / 5. Net WPM = (gross words - full mistakes - half mistakes x 0.5) / 5 minutes. Pass = 26.7 WPM (8,000 KDPH).
04Important notes
- The computer test also has a 10-minute MS Word efficiency paper worth 50 marks, which this practice does not cover.
- The High Court has not published how speed turns into marks; this practice subtracts wrong words, the stricter reading.
About the Rajasthan High Court typing test
Five minutes a language, no backspace, and the marks go straight into your merit.
The Rajasthan High Court recruits Clerk Grade II (LDC), Junior Judicial Assistants (JJA) and Junior Assistants (JA) for the High Court and the district courts. After the written exam, shortlisted candidates take a 100-mark computer test: a speed test in Hindi and English (50 marks) and an efficiency test in MS Word (50 marks).
The speed test is short and unforgiving. You get 5 minutes per language with backspace and the arrow keys disabled, and you need at least 8,000 key depressions an hour - about 27 words a minute.

As reported from recent High Court computer tests by candidates and coaching platforms. Highlighting is not confirmed in any notice. Follow the instructions on your test day.
Set up this practice test like the exam
This practice runs with Backspace off and No highlighter, and Hindi on Kruti Dev 010 by default. DevLys and Remington GAIL use the same key positions if you need them. Use Exam Mode to type Hindi and English back to back. Do not switch backspace on to feel faster - the habit of correcting is exactly what costs time on the day.
Practise the 5-minute speed tests
Take the Hindi and English 5-minute tests with backspace off and see your key-depression speed, net speed and every mistake.
What 8,000 key depressions an hour means
8,000 key depressions an hour is 133 keys a minute, or 667 keys in 5 minutes. At 5 keys a word that is 26.7 WPM. The High Court has not published exactly how speed is turned into marks, so this practice takes the stricter reading: every wrong word is subtracted before the speed is checked. If you clear it here, you clear it on any reading.
Which mistakes count
How this practice marks your typing, word by word.
| Mistake | Example | Counts as |
|---|---|---|
| Wrong or misspelt word | Typing "nyayalay" wrongly | Full |
| Skipped or extra word | Leaving out "the" | Full |
| Incomplete word | Typing "jud" for "judgment" | Full |
| Spacing | Typing "HighCourt" | Half |
| Capitalisation | Typing "jodhpur" for "Jodhpur" | Half |
| Punctuation | Dropping a comma or full stop | Half |
The SSC-style full / half scheme is used because the High Court has not published its own. In Hindi, capitalisation does not apply.
Worked example: an English test that clears
Gross words = key depressions / 5
Net words = gross words - full mistakes - half mistakes x 0.5
Net WPM = net words / 5 minutes
- Test length
- 5 minutes
- Key depressions
- 800
- Mistakes
- 8 full, 4 half
- Key-depression speed800 x 12= 9,600 KDPH
- Gross words800 / 5= 160
- Net words160 - 8 - 4 x 0.5= 150
- Net speed150 / 5= 30.0 WPM
- Speed check30.0 against 26.7= clears
TipWith no backspace, 800 keys in 5 minutes means 160 keys a minute with no pause - steady rhythm matters more than bursts.
Worked example: a Hindi test that falls short
Gross words = key depressions / 5
Net words = gross words - full mistakes - half mistakes x 0.5
Net WPM = net words / 5 minutes
- Test length
- 5 minutes
- Key depressions
- 720
- Mistakes
- 12 full, 4 half
- Key-depression speed720 x 12= 8,640 KDPH
- Gross words720 / 5= 144
- Net words144 - 12 - 4 x 0.5= 130
- Net speed130 / 5= 26.0 WPM
- Speed check26.0 against 26.7= falls short
TipOn a raw-keystroke reading this attempt would pass. Do not rely on it - four fewer mistakes clear both readings.
The mistake that fails most candidates
Stopping to fix things. With backspace disabled, a candidate who pauses after every slip loses seconds they cannot afford in a 5-minute test. Accept the mistake and keep the rhythm. Aim for 33+ WPM English and 30+ WPM Hindi in 5-minute practice, with fewer than 8 mistakes.
A four-week preparation plan
Four weeks to type cleanly without a backspace.
| Week | Focus | Hindi target | English target | Mistakes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Kruti Dev key positions, matras, half letters. Backspace on. | 20 WPM | 25 WPM | Any - learn the keys |
| Week 2 | 5-minute tests with backspace off. | 24 WPM | 28 WPM | Under 15 |
| Week 3 | Exam Mode: Hindi then English, no highlighter. | 27 WPM | 31 WPM | Under 10 |
| Week 4 | Daily Exam Mode runs, plus MS Word practice. | 30+ WPM | 33+ WPM | Under 8 |
What to practise, and what to avoid
Habits that hold up when nothing can be corrected.
Do this
- Practise Hindi on Kruti Dev 010 - the only Hindi font accepted.
- Practise with backspace off from week two onwards.
- Keep a steady rhythm; a slip costs one word, a pause costs several.
- Click Confirm after each section in the exam.
- Prepare MS Word tasks for the 50-mark efficiency test.
Avoid this
- Practising Hindi on Mangal InScript - it is not accepted.
- Training only English - Hindi is half the speed-test marks.
- Stopping at 27 WPM - the marks also count towards your merit.
- Reaching for the arrow keys or Delete - they are disabled.
Frequently asked questions
What typing speed is required for Rajasthan High Court LDC / JJA?
At least 8,000 key depressions an hour - about 26.7 WPM - in both Hindi and English. Some reports quote 35 WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi, so practising above 30 is safest.
How long is the Rajasthan High Court typing test?
For LDC, JJA and JA the speed test is reported as 5 minutes in Hindi and 5 minutes in English. Some earlier sittings were reported as 10 minutes each; check your admit card.
Is backspace allowed in the Rajasthan High Court typing test?
No. Backspace, Delete and the arrow keys are disabled, and spell check and auto-correct are off.
Which Hindi font is used?
Kruti Dev 010 on the Remington typewriter keyboard. Mangal is not accepted.
Are the typing marks added to the merit?
Yes. The computer test is 100 marks (speed 50 + efficiency 50) and is added to the 300-mark written exam.
What is the efficiency test?
A 10-minute MS Word paper worth 50 marks: formatting, tables, page setup and similar tasks. This practice covers the speed test only.
How many key depressions do I need in 5 minutes?
About 667. 8,000 an hour is 133 a minute.
How does this practice decide pass or fail?
It divides your key depressions by 5, subtracts full and half mistakes, and checks the result against 26.7 WPM. The High Court has not published its formula, so we use the stricter reading.
Do I type Hindi and English in the same sitting?
Yes, Hindi first and then English. Use Exam Mode here to practise them back to back.
Is the Stenographer or System Assistant test the same?
No. Stenographers take a 10-minute speed test in one language plus shorthand; System Assistants have an Excel task in the efficiency test. This page is for LDC, JJA and JA.
What speed should I aim for?
Aim for 33+ WPM English and 30+ WPM Hindi with fewer than 8 mistakes in 5 minutes - comfortably above every reported bar.
Is this the official Rajasthan High Court typing software?
No. 91Typing is an independent practice platform. It follows the reported rules - 5 minutes per language, Kruti Dev 010, no backspace, 8,000 KDPH - so your practice reads the way the real test will.
