01About this test
DSSSB typing skill test for JSA, LDC, Junior Assistant and DASS Grade IV. You type in one language - the one chosen in your application - and the test is qualifying.
02Rules
- 1Each mock test uses its own fixed passage, so you can retake it and compare results.
- 2Choose your Hindi keyboard layout - InScript, Remington GAIL or Kruti Dev - before the test begins. It cannot be changed during the test.
- 3Duration: 10 minutes (15 minutes for PwBD candidates).
- 4Speed: 35 WPM (10,500 key depressions an hour) in English or 30 WPM (9,000) in Hindi.
- 5Error limit: reported as 7% for UR and 10% for reserved categories.
- 6Full mistakes count 1; half mistakes (spacing, capitalisation, punctuation, transposition, paragraph) count 0.5.
- 7Screen-to-screen: the passage is shown on the computer. Backspace is allowed.
- 8Hindi can be typed in Mangal InScript, Mangal Remington or Kruti Dev 010.
03How you are scored
Gross words = key depressions / 5. Net WPM = (gross words - full mistakes - half mistakes x 0.5) / 10 minutes. Error % = mistakes / words typed x 100.
04Important notes
- The typing test is qualifying - your merit comes from the written exam.
- Your language is fixed by your application form and cannot be changed later.
